Visit Mint Directors Association
An association with no digital home now runs its whole world online, and membership became a revenue stream.
The Mint Directors Association connects the world’s mints, the organisations that strike nations’ coins, with members including the Spanish Royal Mint and Portugal’s Imprensa Nacional. Their entire digital platform was built from the ground up in this engagement: the public face of the association, the members-only area behind it, the member directory, and a community forum where an industry spread across every timezone talks.
Joining, renewing and paying now happen on the platform, which made membership itself a new revenue stream for the association rather than an administrative chore. The difficulty in a build like this is not any single piece. It is that an association platform must do many jobs at once: carry public credibility for institutional members, gate what is member-only to members only, keep a directory current, and host a working community, while staying simple enough for a small secretariat to run without an engineering team on staff.
The relationship has run the same way since: one person who knows the whole machine. Member files are held to a genuinely members-only standard, served through links that expire in minutes, with over 400 documents in secured storage that staff manage through a purpose-built upload portal. When the member directory drifted out of step with the membership system, the cause was found by correlating the automation’s run history against the records it created, fixed at the root, and the live directory cleaned. And the routine operations of running a membership body are now scripted and repeatable rather than an afternoon of clicking across dashboards.
Built right, a platform like this does not need an engineering team on staff. It needs one person who knows the whole machine.
