Understand the problem.
Leave with a plan.

We begin with a 45 minute conversation about what you need built and what is getting in the way. If a scoping week is the right next step, I send you a proposal with a fixed fee.

Book a 45 minute call

The call comes first. The scoping week has a fixed fee, and half of it comes off the retainer the build runs in. The scope is yours either way.

Five days of work.
Your part is smaller.

The scoping week starts with the human experience, then checks it against the evidence in your systems. Time at my desk goes into understanding your data and workflows, so the plan reflects how your business actually runs.

Your scheduled time falls across Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Two people from your team are needed for their interview and Friday’s walkthrough.

Before the week, we have a 20 minute kickoff. You nominate a technical contact, arrange read-only access, share a systems inventory and book the interviews. Working access is needed five business days before we start; preparation time depends on your systems.

What you and your team are needed for

  1. You and two of your team

You and your team set the agenda.

We talk about the work as you experience it: the pain points, the workarounds and what you want to change. I also speak with the person running your systems and someone doing the work they support. We finish by agreeing what the week will cover.

You: a 45 minute interview and 30 minutes to agree the scope of the week. Two team members: a 45 minute interview each.

    Monday

  2. Your technical contact, only if I have a question

    Follow the evidence.

I work through your systems, data and documented processes, checking how they match what we heard on Monday. That includes the gaps between how a process is described and how it actually runs.

    No scheduled session.

    Tuesday

  3. You

    Check what is emerging.

We discuss what I have found so far and check it against your experience. The investigation continues with those answers in view.

    A 30 minute check-in.

    Wednesday

  4. No one

Turn the findings into a plan.

I test the possible approaches against your systems, identify what needs building and size the work. The plan shows what that means at the monthly pace you choose.

    No scheduled session.

    Thursday

  5. You and the people who will act on the plan

    Walk through it together.

We discuss the findings and walk through the plan using your own systems. You can ask questions before the written plan arrives that afternoon, whether or not I’m the one who builds it.

One 90 minute debrief and walkthrough.

    Friday

A scope you own.

You receive the scope, the build sized in days as a range, and what delivery looks like at your chosen monthly pace. It’s yours either way.

The week has a fixed fee. Half is credited against a retainer signed within 30 days of receiving the plan. If we continue together, the build runs as the opening work of that monthly retainer.

Access is read-only and you can revoke it at any time. What I see during the week stays confidential and is not used elsewhere. If I cannot run the week on the date we agree, you can choose a new date or have the fee returned.
